We have talked about different teaching methods but what if you have a child who has learning issues. Homeschooling can be a great way of helping your child who learns differently. If you have a child who is ADD or ADHD then you can tailor the curriculum to their strengths instead of weaknesses. Homeschool ADD/ADHD children are usually the children who need a different approach on schooling. The great thing about homeschooling is you can set up the area that your child schools in to be distraction free. That is very important to a child with ADD/ADHD.
What about homeschooling in the autism spectrum, maybe asperger’s syndrome, these are both areas where children are known to struggle in school. They are either behind academically in one subject and very advanced in another or they are known for not being able to handle the social aspect of school. Crowds of people can be a problem for some autism/asperger children.
Then there is the gifted child. Gifted children can struggle in school, too. Some people do not believe that. The gifted child can have issues with being bored in class. They can even be bullied or picked on for knowing to much. A homeschool gifted child can be free to learn at their own pass as fast as they want. They can be on what ever level they need to be on.
If you have a child who has difficulty learning due to being different. Homeschooling might be the answer for your child. It is OK to be different.
